From Broadway to Banana Ball! Derek Klena Joins Savannah Bananas in Viral Baseball League

Broadway and Hallmark star Derek Klena is stepping into the world of Banana Ball, joining the Savannah Bananas!

The 34-year-old Tony nominee revealed the news on social media while singing a slightly tweaked version of the iconic Hercules song “Go the Distance” by Roger Bart.

The fast-growing exhibition baseball league puts entertainment first, blending baseball with choreographed dances, elaborate walk-ups, and viral-ready moments reminiscent of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Derek is best known for his Broadway work, including Wicked, Jagged Little Pill, Bridges of Madison County, Anastasia, and more. He’s also been on television with roles in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, among others.

The Savannah Bananas made their television broadcast debut earlier this year on The CW with their Banana Ball game at Philadelphia Citizens Bank Park.
