Connor Storrie Talks Perfecting & Normalizing His Russian Accent On 'Heated Rivalry' Set

Connor Storrie is opening up about his Russian accent in Heated Rivalry!

The 25-year-old actor stars as Russian hockey player Ilya Rozanov, and is so good at the accent and pronunciation of Russian words that he convinced people, including native Russians, that he is really from Russia.

However, in real life, Connor is actually just from Texas and lives in Los Angeles.

In a newly released interview, he dished on perfecting the accent and how he would talk in that accent the entire day as soon as he stepped foot on set.

While speaking with Behind the Blinds, he was asked if there were any tricks he found to help tap into the accent.

“No, not really. For me, it was about time and consistency. The moment I got out of the car on set, I started speaking with the accent to all the PAs, all the ADs, hair, makeup, and wardrobe people. I stayed in it until the last cut of the day. Not because I was ‘in character,’ but because it gave me an hour and a half to warm up,” Connor shared.

“Accents feel ridiculous at first. You think, ‘I don’t sound like that.’ Of course you don’t. But if you normalise it – both for yourself and for the people around you – it starts to feel real,” he continued. “I think that’s why people convince themselves they’re bad at accents. They don’t give themselves permission to sound wrong at first.”
