Most recently, the 50-year-old star wrapped the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. Insiders say he was “overwhelmed” by the series wrap and the heightened press scrutiny.
The press cycle for the last season was particularly rough for David amid his split from ex-wife Lily Allen, cheating allegations, and rumors that he and Millie Bobby Brown were on the outs.
Variety says the part has already been recast, but it’s not yet known who replaced him.

The series has since been retooled into DTF St. Louis with David acting opposite of Jason Bateman instead.
David still has plenty of other projects coming out soon. Read more about what he and the rest of the Stranger Things cast are up to next now that the Netflix show is over.
