Eric Dane Drops Out of ALS Event Last Minute Amid Health Battle, Another Actor Steps in to Accept Award on His Behalf

Eric Dane is no longer appearing at an ALS event.

The 53-year-old Euphoria star was supposed to go to ALS Network’s Champions for Cures and Care Gala on Saturday (January 24), where he’d be awarded Advocate of the Year.

Just hours before, he canceled the appearance.

Eric said the reason was “due to the physical realities of ALS” and not being “well enough to attend,” he told the ALS Network, per People.

“We remain deeply grateful for his courage, advocacy and continued commitment to the ALS community, and we honor him fully this evening with our profound respect and support,” the organization said in a statement provided to the outlet.

Actor Aaron Lazar, who also has ALS, would “accept the award on [Dane's] behalf.”

If you didn’t know, Eric announced back in April 2025 that he has been diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disease that effects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
