Several brides claim videographer "ghosted" them before and after wedding

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Several brides have been left in the lurch after they say communication with their videographer was cut off and he "ghosted" them.

Emma Scambler got married in June 2024 and she paid Stephen Austin $3,000 to shoot her wedding.

"He came to the wedding and he brought a team with him. He had drones flying around the capital mean he looked like he was filming," said Scambler.

Capturing the perfect wedding is an art and Austin has quite the following.

"It's crazy that people put themselves out there and seem to be legit and they're not," said Scambler. "He posted a reel on Instagram on July 10th where we're like walking up the steps of the capital and that was the last we heard from him. "

But, as for mementos for the big day itself, Scambler said delivery was a big mess.

"We thought that we'd be hired an industry professional, and so looking back on it and thinking that some of the memories that we made that day are potentially, lost forever is it's absolutely devastating," said Scambler.

Soon-to-be-bride Chantel Beaudoin is getting ready to say "I Do" in a little over three weeks.

She hired Stephen Austin, but isn't holding out hope.

"I reached out to him. Crickets. Nothing," said Beaudoin.

With just over 20 days away from her special day, Beaudoin said she isn't sure what to do.

"I can't shell out another $2,000 to go find another videographer. So it's tough," said Beaudoin.

Both Scambler and Beaudoin said they've discovered that neither of them are the first and only brides to fall victim, now they want to warn others.

"It's not just about losing the money. I mean, we trusted Steven," said Scambler. "It's also really sad for anyone that chooses to use him in the future."

"So just do your research and try your hardest not to be bamboozled," said Beaudoin.
