Flu supplies running low as cases spike
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Metro pharmacists are busy dealing with the ongoing spike in flu cases.
Illness levels continue to rise in Oklahoma and it's causing a short supply in some commonly prescribed medications.
"It's just unbelievable. The amount of Tamiflu we're running through in a day is unprecedented. We were down to four boxes today," said Dani Lynch, owner of Thrifty Pharmacy.
Lynch is a local pharmacist and she said she is seeing people come in with several viruses that are circulating.
"For a while we were seeing that they were coming back negative for flu, COVID, strep, and it was just some unnamed virus. Now we're seeing mainly totally flu," said Lynch. "We are just swamped with, you know, all kinds of aches and pains and sniffles. If they don't have flu, they've got something."
Lynch said if you're having trouble finding medication on the shelves, there are other remedies to help.
"A humidifier in the bedroom, you know, Motrin or Tylenol for the aches and pains," said Lynch. "We should be peaking soon and then we'll be on that downhill slide. But so far, we're number one in the nation still for the second week as far as the amount of new cases. So, I just have to ride it out."
