Norman woman working to retrieve stolen car after police chase
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - A woman is working to get her car back after it was stolen from her Norman driveway, only to be found after a chase with Oklahoma City Police.
"And I just realized, like, my car's not there," said Lindsey Davies.
Lindsey Davies first talked to News 4 Thursday. Tuesday morning, her 2018 Kia Soul was not in her driveway, but her keys were inside her home.
Davies believes she fell victim to a Tiktok trend, after videos surface about how easily some Kia's can be stolen.
"I'm hoping someone was desperate, you know, checking. Found it, you know, get A couple nights of warmth," said Davies.
Fast forward to breaking news Friday morning on News 4, starting near I-35 and Southeast 59th in OKC.
"Oklahoma city police spotted a stolen car, tried to make a traffic stop, and that's when that chase began," News 4's Kent Ogle reported.
Turns out, it was Davies' car.
The 90 mph chase ended in Norman after the suspects crashed into a parked car at an apartment complex.
Oklahoma City Police said the suspects, Kadarius Alexander, 34, and Roy Diehl, 19, ran off.
"With the help of a canine unit and the driver of the stolen car was arrested. Police were able to arrest the passenger by using a drone," reported News 4's Natalie Clydesdale.
That part stuck with Davies' son.
"He loved the fact that one person was caught by a police dog and one was caught by a drone," said Davies. "He thinks that's the absolute coolest thing ever."
Davies is grateful her car was found.
The problem is she has no transportation and was told she had an hour to get to Oklahoma City or her car would be impounded.
"Even if it was in Norman I wouldn’t be able to get there within that one hour time frame," said Davies. "I have been told there's a chance I'll be paying to get it removed from impound."
That's on top of repairs or a new car. There's still no word if the Kia is totaled.
Until then, Davies said dozens of people, some she doesn't even know, have reached out to her.
"Do you think the community will help you?" News 4 asked Davies.
"That's not my goal of course, at all," said Davies. "I just know I'm going to be surrounded by, you know, friends and family."
Oklahoma City Police declined an interview. They told News 4 they didn't want to give the suspects any more publicity than they're already getting.
