Mother asking for answers after son was killed in hit-and-run
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A mother is on a mission to find her son's killer after he was hit and killed by a car over the weekend.
"I'm shocked. I have nightmares at night. To the people who are out there, I have nightmares at night," said Raginia Castro, Joseph Castro's mother.
It's a constant living nightmare for Castro.
Her son, Joseph Castro, was walking with his bike near SE 66th Street and Johnnie Terrace when he was hit by a car and the driver sped away.
"He wasn't in the middle of the street. You could see where the car went up over the curve with the tires," explained Castro. "He had a heart. He was kind. He was nice."
Castro said Joseph died at the scene of the accident, losing her only boy.
"He didn't meet a stranger, he was a good uncle, he was a good father," said Castro.
Castro said her family is frustrated because more has not been done to track down the driver.
"They said he was dragged 118 feet under a vehicle," said Castro. "I feel like they just left my son in the road to die and forgot about him, and it's not right. You know, I've been trying to get a hold of you and you won't contact me, it's not right."
Castro's life is forever changed, and now she wants the driver to come forward.
"If you were under the influence or whatever, if you come to your senses, if you have a heart, a conscious, have a soul, it's an emptiness in me that I have to bury my son soon and I don't know what happened," said Castro.
The Oklahoma City Police Department is actively investigating, if you know anything, you are asked to give them a call.
