Out-of-state marijuana grow burglars caught green handed by authorities
OKARCHE, Okla. (KFOR) — Three people are behind bars, with two other suspects on the run after a robbery at a marijuana grow facility in Okarche.
"They had actually made entry into the grow. They had carried several containers, I believe, totes of product out and it actually placed it into their vehicle. And then I think when we arrived, they were trying to carry a third one out, dropped it, and so there was product all over the place," Canadian County Sheriff Chris West said.
Authorities say Tremarion Johnson, Ledarrius Richard, and Johnathan Sutton were taken to the Canadian County Jail.
Sheriff West said two of the suspects are from Mississippi, and the other is from Texas.
Surrounding agencies rushed to the medical marijuana grow near Northwest Expressway and Evans Road with guns drawn around 4 a.m. Friday.
Body camera video shared with News 4 shows the moment law enforcement confronted the suspects.
"They got there pretty quick. When we got there, we encountered, I think, five individuals," said Sheriff West.
Authorities say the suspects cut through the chain-link fence surrounding the building to force entry into the facility.
Authorities say no one was inside the grow during the burglary.
"We did contact the owner and then I believe maybe the operator, what we call the key holder, the person that can actually come in and open the doors and all that kind of stuff," said Sheriff West.
Sheriff West says there is no active threat to the public.
Authorities are continuing their search for the other two suspects.
