Fans fired up at Fassler Hall as Oklahoma City Thunder win series against Denver Nuggets
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Sunday afternoon, fans across the metro gathered at Fassler Hall, also known as Thunder Hall during playoffs, creating an electric atmosphere.
The downtown eatery and bar was filled to capacity for Game 7 of the NBA Western Conference Semifinals.
"This is what we deserve, man. We've been through the hard times. So this is only right, we go and get it," said Vincent French.
Kaylin Dennis, another fan at the watch party, said, "It's our time now. First off, SGA, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the MVP, and Sam Preston, he is the best GM in the league right now."
The orange and blue beat the Denver Nuggets at home, 125-93.
Another fan, Kinyon Parker said he's been cheering for the team since 2008, the year they were founded.
"It's been a lot of ups and downs, a lot of challenges, but now here we are. You see the crowd is immaculate. Everybody's out here supporting. So why not come out here," Parker said.
The excitement in the building was through the roof.
Many fans said the community engagement and excitement is what keeps the playoff fever alive.
"I love being a part of it. I love feeling the city and I love feeling the excitement that we get when we get over to the playoffs," said DeLauren Diaz.
Lots of hopeful fans told News 4, they believe the team can go all the way to the championship.
"Being a young team, being challenged in the playoffs, I think we have what it takes. Last year we struggled more than we have this year. I think we had the experience of losing last year. I think that's going to put us forward, give us the confidence we need to win," said Leyton Milner.
Milner also said, "We showed what we could do in the regular season and we'll be ready for whoever."
The Oklahoma City Thunder will play the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals. Game 1 will be played at the Paycom Center Tuesday night with a 7:30 tip-off.
