Fans pour into Paycom Center for Game 1 of NBA Finals
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Thunder fans were pouring into the Paycom Center as soon as the doors opened ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, some dancing their way inside.
The rain wasn't going to keep them away.
"Rain, sun, I don't care. NBA Finals in Oklahoma City and the Thunder's taking it home," said Darrell Titsworth, an Oklahoma City Thunder fan.
"You can't have Oklahoma City basketball without a thunderstorm right before game time. The thunder brewing, lightning striking. Indiana, look out, baby, look out," said Frank Church, an Oklahoma City Thunder fan.
Fans were soaking in the moment that they had been waiting 13 years to experience again.
"We've been waiting for this moment for a long time," said John Crist, an Oklahoma City Thunder fan.
"There's so many people in the world that have never got to this point. We are here for the first time in 13 years. I was a young little kid in high school, just getting, just learning about NBA, so here we are," said Church.
Fans got in line to take advantage of half-priced food and drinks for the first hour, then hurried to their seat to see the boys in blue warm up.
Hopes are high that their squad will bring home an NBA Title.
"We're gentlemen, alright, so we're going to let them have one, but Thunder in five," said Darby Crist, an Oklahoma City Thunder fan.
Thunder fans were showing their support and are confident in their team winning the series in just five games.
"I say Thunder in five, bring it back to the city, bring that revenue, bring that hype, bring everything back to the city for a game five close-out," said Church.
"It's a popular one, Thunder in five. You know, Indy can still win on the road, Indy can take one at home, but we're not leaving the finals without the championship. Larry O'Brien is coming to OKC," said Titsworth.
