Good afternoon, Epic Community:
We are writing to share important news regarding a leadership transition at Epic Charter Schools.
Bart Banfield has resigned from his position as superintendent of Epic Charter Schools. Banfield was hired as assistant superintendent of instruction in 2014 and became superintendent in 2019.
According to Board President Ginger Casper, Banfield led Epic through significant periods of growth, innovation, and academic advancement during his tenure as superintendent.
“Bart Banfield’s leadership has helped shape our school and strengthen its mission to provide an exceptional, personalized education for students across Oklahoma. We are grateful for his contributions and wish him continued success in his future endeavors,” Casper said.
Pursuant to Board succession plan policy, Deputy Superintendent of Instruction Justin Hunt will serve as interim superintendent.
Hunt joined Epic in 2017 as managing director of instruction and was promoted to deputy superintendent of instruction in 2021.
“Mr. Hunt brings with him a strong commitment to Epic’s mission and a deep understanding of our community’s needs. We are confident that his leadership will ensure continuity and stability as we move forward,” Casper said.
The Epic Board of Education will soon begin the search process for our next permanent superintendent. We are committed to keeping our community informed and engaged throughout this important process.
Thank you for your continued trust and support as we embark on this next chapter for Epic Charter Schools.
Sincerely,
Epic Leadership Team
