Tenants left without help after management quits
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Several Oklahomans are frustrated with problems at their apartment complex.
Now, they say there is nowhere to turn to get answers. They told News 4 that management had quit earlier this week.
When News 4 went to the leasing office at the Villas on 50th in Oklahoma City to see for ourselves, tenants in the pool confirmed to us that management did indeed quit.
On top of that, tenants also say the company that owns the complex isn't doing anything to help either.
"The washer flooded the kitchen and the garbage disposal didn't work," Jesus Lopez, tenant at the Villas on 50th said. "We got mold growing in the closet back over there because the AC leak for so long."
These are the problems Lopez and many other tenants at this apartment complex have faced since moving in. Multiple people spoke with News 4 employees to voice their concerns.
"They don't care," one tenant said.
"If you were here two days ago, you couldn't even walk in here; it smelled so bad I was gagging," another tenant said.
"My lease is up in July and I'm getting up out of here because since I've moved in, I've had no AC, no heating, no anything," a third tenant told us.
Lopez says communication with management has been minimal.
"Sometimes she'll be like, 'yeah, yeah, we'll get it, we'll get it figured out,' and then nothing happens," Lopez said. "My daughter's room flooded for over two weeks, and they replaced the carpet, but they got mold growing in the bathroom. Now, she can't go in there."
Now, there appears to be no management at all.
"They quit," Lopez said. "Maintenance is not too far behind them. I talked to the guy today, he's quitting. He's gone. We won't have nobody to fix nothing for I don't know how long."
News 4 reached out to the company that owns the complex, but they don't have a phone number or address. So, we could only send a message to them online.
"I'm about ready to call it quits with this place," Lopez said. "We're just going to get to the point where it's unlivable in here because we got water dripping everywhere and there's mold."
