Thunder fans flood stores for championship merch
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - A championship win brings championship merchandise and fans flooded metro stores Sunday night and Monday morning to get their hands on it.
"Before our store reopened the night of the win, we had a line clear down the shopping center," Academy Senior PR Specialist Brooke Murski said. "Everyone was in the crowd chanting OKC, OKC walking through the store. I mean, it was electric and it still hasn't really died down yet."
The excitement after securing a title never dies and that celebration carried over bright and early Monday morning as fans flocked to the Academy near 63rd Street and Northwest Expressway to wait in line for championship merchandise.
"Look, I'm on vacation and get ready to go out of town," Thunder fan Sonya Liggen London said while waiting in line at Academy. "So, I couldn't help but come here and get my T-shirt."
London got in line just before 6 a.m.
"I'm just happy for us, our franchise in general," she said.
She was also the first one inside, chanting OKC, when the doors officially opened. Everything was prepped and ready on tables where people like the Britt family can make their decision on what they want to take home.
"We got everybody a shirt, got a hat, we got everything we needed," Bryan Britt said standing with his two daughters, Sidney and Allie.
Championship runs bring championship parades as well. All of Oklahoma is set to celebrate the win Tuesday morning. You bet they'll be out in full force to ready to carry on one of the biggest moments in the city's history.
"Oh, absolutely," Bryan said. "Yeah. We absolutely will be there."
"We have to," Bryan's daughter Allie said.
KFOR will be live bright and early to cover the championship parade, which is set to start art 10:30. More information on the route can be found here. https://kfor.com/news/local/okc-to-celebrate-thunders-nba-championship-with-victory-parade/
