Thunder fans show up in full force to cheer on their NBA champions

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Hundreds of thousands of fans filled the streets of downtown Oklahoma City to celebrate the Thunder's big win and be a part of history.

It was a morning full of excitement, from Scissortail Park to the parade route, fans of all ages showed up in full force to cheer on the team.

Many even took the day off from work.

"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This won't happen again, I mean, we can make another championship, but there's not going to be another first," said Amber Lowry, a fan.

In order to get a front row spot, fans showed up hours early.

"All the Thunder players, they said that they won for the city, and so we would want to, as fans, come here and do our part and be there for the players," said Tristan Lesley, Thunder fan.

To be there for the players of the team, they never doubted. It took nearly two decades, but the Thunder did it.

"I just feel proud, especially 30 years after the bombing, like the 30-year anniversary, it's just such a special year to get this and to be known for something more positive," said Lowry.

It's brought our city together, as we all cheer for the same team.
