Loud City Ink gives free Thunder tattoos after championship win
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Fans are cherishing the memories being made following the Thunder winning their first NBA championship.
Hundreds of people want a permanent reminder of that memory, so they got it inked into their skin, for free.
Loud City Ink was packed all day on Tuesday following the championship parade in downtown Oklahoma City.
Fans were lining up, waiting to etch history into their skin.
"YOLO, You Only Live Once," Amanda Fisher, a Thunder fan, said.
Thunder fans did not hesitate to get a free tattoo to celebrate their team's first NBA Title.
"What a better way to support our boys and the city that I love," Lyle Thames, another Thunder fan, said.
"There's nothing like it," Taylor Freeman, Owner of Loud City Ink, said. "I don't know. We've never had anything like this. It's super exciting, as I love seeing, you know, everybody's wearing Thunder."
Freeman says he isn't sure where the idea of free Thunder tattoos came from, but it just felt right.
"It's important to, you know, just be part of a movement and just kind of doing free taxis," Freeman said. "I didn't think that I don't know, I'm not going to say that I doubted this, but I just didn't see it going this far."
He says it started after the Thunder's Round 1 win.
"We did a 100 free ones the first round of the playoffs, then the second round we did 200, third round 300, and then when we won the finals, I was going to do 500 more, so here we are," Freeman said.
Fans like Thames have been here after every round.
"I got this in the first round, I got this in here the second round, and then I got OKC behind my ear in the third round, and today I'm getting the championship one," Thames said.
However, other fans like Fisher are getting their very first tattoo.
"I've been down here all day today," Fisher said. "I'm a teacher, so I'm showing my kids I'm enjoying this. I want to remember. I have some souvenirs from today, and I'm going to have this for the rest of my life."
Whether you get a Thunder logo or Rumble the Bison, one thing is for sure: Thunder fans care about their team, so much so to willingly mark this moment permanently on their skin.
"It's good to see people out here," Freeman said. "They want to represent and are proud of what we're doing as well, to the point they want to wear it with them for the rest of their life."
Loud City Ink gave out 500 free tattoos for the championship win.
Freeman said they are looking forward to offering it again when the Thunder make another deep playoff run.
