Fans line up overnight to get J-Dub's autograph
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Fans lined up overnight at Dick's Sporting Goods all for a chance to get a Thunder player's autograph.
"There was already about 180 people in line at midnight," said Marcus Montez.
You've seen the fan-demonium that unfolds at the retail store just for Thunder shirts after a game.
"Everyone's turning up to support the Thunder and we're excited to be a part of it," said Kari Sumpter, who bought a shirt last month.
This time, a Thunder player is the star attraction.
"The one and only, J-Dub," said Candice Blevins.
"J-Dub went out there and dropped 40 points," said Montez.
The 4-Sight drone showed just low long the line was Thursday morning.
"It's already all the way around the building and it's fixing to come back over here on this side," said Montez.
Fans brought chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and entertainment, hoping to be among the first 250 in line to get a wrist band.
"We have been here since 11 p.m. waiting in line," said Blevins. "We should be in. We're excited."
Montez arrived around 6 p.m. on his birthday. Others in line made it extra special.
"Happy birthday dear Marcus! Happy birthday to you!" other fans in line sang.
"Went and bought me a birthday cake and sung me happy birthday at midnight too. So It's been really awesome," said Montez.
"Here's your fork to eat your ice cream cake!" said one of the fans who gifted him the cake.
After a night of anticipation, some fans were happy, others were turned away.
The next step is to go home for a quick nap to be back in place to see the star forward.
"It's just super great and we love it," said Blevins.
Williams was expected to arrive at 6 p.m. for autographs.
