New lawsuit demanding $10 million in damages after 4-year-old severely burned
SEMINOLE, Okla. (KFOR) — A 4-year-old was left severely burned Saturday, June 21, after a bottle of hand sanitizer exploded during a s'mores activity at Jasmine Moran Children's Museum.
The museum released a statement on Facebook about this incident.
On Saturday, June 21st, 2025, an unfortunate incident occurred at Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum during a hands-on activity, resulting in a burn injury to a visiting child. First aid was administered immediately by trained staff, and emergency services were contacted. The child was accompanied by a parent at the time. The safety and well-being of every child and family who visits our museum is our highest priority. We are conducting a thorough review of the incident, and the activity in question has been suspended while we evaluate and revise safety protocols to prevent any future occurrences. We appreciate the swift response of our staff and emergency personnel, and we are committed to learning from this situation to continue providing a safe, fun and enriching environment for all children. Out of respect for the privacy of the child and family involved, no further details will be released at this time.
Jasmine Moran Children's Museum
4-year-old Ryker was air lifted to a hospital in Oklahoma City, where he underwent at least one surgery, according to a GoFundMe set up for him and his family.
On Wednesday, a lawsuit was filed against the Jasmine Moran's Children's Museum Foundation, accusing the museum and unidentified employees of being "negligent, grossly negligent, and reckless in causing the subject occurrence."
Alexus Corona is named as the parent of Ryker, and is demanding $10 million in damages.
The museum is not releasing any new information beyond the pending lawsuit.
In a new statement, the museum says, "Our thoughts are with the injured child and family as they navigate recovery."
It goes on to say they have taken immediate steps following the accident.
In Seminole on Friday, the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum is operating as usual, despite last Saturday's incident and pending litigation.
News 4 spoke with several people in Seminole who were saddened when they heard about the incident. Many said they have been to this museum with their kids or grandkids a number of times and have never had an issue.
Greg Shaw, a resident of Seminole, was devastated to hear about the Ryker.
"It's just sad and just very tragic. I was worried about the little boy and the people that was involved," Shaw said.
