OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Tinker Air Force Base will be busy this weekend because the air show is back! This year, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are headlining the show. It's the first time in seven years.
The Thunderbirds are just one of the many aerial demonstrations you'll see this weekend.
"We also have an MV-22 Marine Osprey, that is a team tinker first. We have lots of other civilian and military air acts," said Lt. Colonel Eric Cring, Air Show Director.
While the main show will be in the sky, there's also plenty to do on the ground.
"We also have our STEM city. That's gonna be lots of hands-on activities for our younger children," said Lt. Colonel Cring.
It's supposed to be a hot weekend, so air show officials are reminding you to be prepared and suggest bringing an empty reusable water bottle to refill on site.
"Or you can bring a full water bottle up to 32 ounces as long as it has not been opened. Highly recommend sunscreen, highly recommend ear protection...some of these jets can get very loud," said Lt. Colonel Cring.
It's been two years since the air show last made an appearance at Tinker Air Force Base and officials are excited to give back to the community once again.
"We are just super excited to open up our base and to demonstrate to our local communities what we offer to Oklahoma and the defense of our nation," said Lt. Colonel Cring.
So look up to the skies and have a blast this weekend! The gates open at 8am both Saturday and Sunday.
