Small business security camera captures a man stealing their tip jar

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - A small business in Southwest Oklahoma City is hoping to identify a man who was caught on camera stealing their tip jar.

"He paid with cash and took about a hundred bucks with him," said Nadia Harrington, Tacoville manager.

Since 1967, Tacoville has been serving SW OKC, but now they are searching for answers after a man was caught on a security camera taking a tip jar off the counter and hiding it inside his jacket.

In the video, the man is seen slowly moving the jar closer to himself, before taking it and placing it inside his jacket.

Harrington says it appears that he takes it out of his jacket, almost as if he were second-guessing his decision.

"Then he, like, No. Slipped it back in," said Harrington. "Then instead of like, waiting for his food back here, he just stayed at the counter. So bold, you know, just had it in his jacket the entire time."

Harrington says they were busy that day and that the tip jar was pretty full.

"We're guessing it was almost a hundred bucks. We were really busy that day, and it was bout 2:30, so we had been open about 3 hours. So, at least 90 to a hundred bucks," said Harrington.

Now the small business is left wondering why someone would do this.

"It's really heartbreaking because my employees work hard for their money, and tips are important, especially this time of year," said Harrington. "So it's just sad that someone would steal my employees' money."

She says they have filed a police report, and is asking for anyone with information to call the Oklahoma City Police.
