It's remarkable how consistently warm we've been, especially getting into early November now.
Highs have been in the low-mid 80s, which is well above average for this time of year.
This same weather pattern looks to continue through at least the next week.
A front moves into the central parts of the country today and tomorrow. With low pressure to our northwest, southerly winds will begin to pick up today and tomorrow, getting into the 10-20 mph range. With warm air advection coming off the Gulf, isolated (20%) rain chances in the forecast for today and tomorrow. Highs will continue to reach the mid-80s.
Rain chances increase on Tuesday as the aforementioned front moves closer to the area and increases atmospheric lift. The front will lose upper-level support and stall across the area. It will eventually lift back northward for Wednesday and Thursday, so the warm weather continues with highs in the mid-upper 80s.
A stronger trough moves into the area by the end of the week and the weekend. This one could finally make it through the area, getting highs into the lower 80s by the weekend and hopefully clearing us out.
TROPICS
A low-pressure area across the southwestern Caribbean has a 'high' chance of tropical development as it moves north and later northwest across the western Caribbean.
Long-range models show this system moving into the southern Gulf by mid-week.
Models show a more hostile environment across the Gulf at this time so hopefully any tropical system will be weakening during this time frame. At this time, these same models show a front moving through the Gulf by the end of the week, sweeping this system east across the eastern Gulf and keeping it away from Acadiana. We'll continue to watch it however as this is still a 5-6 day forecast.
