Andre Talks With Fulham Gaining Momentum
Liverpool’s long-held admiration for Fluminense’s Andre Trindade may come to nothing as talks with Fulham gain momentum, according to reports from the Daily Mail. The Brazilian midfielder, heavily linked with Liverpool in the summer, is now believed to be inching closer to a move to Craven Cottage, posing a potential setback for the Reds.
The summer transfer window saw Liverpool unable to tempt Andre to Anfield, with Fluminense’s focus firmly on their Copa Libertadores campaign which ended in victory over Boca Juniors in the final. Now, with the Copa Libertadores Brazilian Serie A season both concluded, the 22-year-old’s departure appears more feasible.
Fluminense are now reported to be asking for more than £30 million for Andre due to his standout performances, a price Fulham are reported to be willing to match. The Cottager view the Brazilian as a potential replacement for Joao Palhinha, who is rumoured to be heading to Bayern Munich in January.
Liverpool, initially keen on Andre at the £20 million mark, face a dilemma as Fulham intensify their pursuit. It remains unclear whether the Anfield hierarchy would be willing so sign off on the player’s new price tag, or indeed if they are still actively interested in the player.
With Wataru Endo the only natural number six in Jurgen Klopp’s squad and Alexis Mac Allister being played out of position, it appears likely the Reds will continue to look for reinforcements in that department even if it means looking elsewhere.
