LAWRENCE (KSNT) - KU men's basketball Saturday's contest in Houston 4-3 under Bill Self against AP No. 1 ranked teams in the country.
That record fell to 4-4 as Kansas got blown out by the top-ranked Cougars.
KU was never competitive in its final regular season game of the season. Houston jumped out to a 22-5 lead to start the game and never looked back. The Jayhawks did not play Kevin McCullar in the second half, after trailing by 19 at the break.
Houston won 76-46.
To make a bad day worse for Kansas, Hunter Dickinson left the game with an apparent shoulder injury in the second half. Dickinson was the only Jayhawk to score in double-figures, finishing with 11 points.
After the game, Bill Self said Dickinson dislocated his shoulder and will have an MRI to assess the damage.
Three-point shooting was one of many areas Houston was better in on Saturday. The Cougars sank eleven triples, shooting 37.9% from deep, while KU made just three from beyond the arc on 21 attempts, good for 14.3%.
KU finishes the regular season 22-9 and 10-8 in conference play. Eight conference losses is KU's most since 1988-89.
The 'Hawks will now look ahead to the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City.
