SOMOLU GH TASKS STAFF ON EXCELLENCE, HARD WORK
In a bid to meet the health needs of the residents of Lagos more and more, the General Hospital Somolu has tasked its staff on excellence and hard work as they continue to raise the bar.
The Medical Director, Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, Dr. Mustapha Adebola Quadri made this known at the general staff assembly of the hospital
According to him, “Despite the challenges facing workers in the healthcare sector, The General Hospital Somolu has been able to raise the bar in the provision of quality healthcare despite the space constraints in the workplace”.
Dr. Quadri, while commending the level of team spirit in the workplace by the staff, urged them not to rest on their oars as the reward for hard work is more work
In a related development, the hospital also held its Continuous Medical Education (CME) for the Month of September.
The CME, which centred on ‘Primary Herpetic Gingivostomatitis’, was hosted by the dental department.
Speaking on the viral mouth disease, Dr. Olumayode Adedoyin Ogunnaike described it as infectious, adding that it affects mostly children between six months and five years. According to her, diagnosis of the disease is based on clinical presentation and history provided.
Dr. Olanike Abosede Oladapo of the Dental Department, who threw more light on the topic, said Primary Herpetic Gingivostomatitis (PHG) comes with painful oral sores, high-grade fever and gingival inflammation.
She further explained that Primary Herpetic Gingivostomatitis, which is a manifestation of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), is often characterised by painful oral lesions that come in its wake. It can also occur in adults.
