I've got nothing against the top smartwatches on the market, and I'm sure plenty of people out there are more than happy with their purchases, but it's a Fitbit Charge 6 that I've had strapped to my wrist for the last year or so—it does almost everything a smartwatch does, but in a lighter, smaller form factor.

That makes a real difference when playing sports or sleeping: Watches from Garmin, Apple, and Samsung feel very chunky in comparison. And if you're still not convinced, this particular fitness tracker is now back down to the lowest price it's ever been at on Amazon, $99.95 (that's 38% down on the original $159.95 price).

In the Lifehacker review of the Fitbit Charge 6, my colleague Beth Skwarecki wasn't quite as impressed with the device as I've been. However, she did praise its simplicity, the accompanying app, and the low price (which is now even lower). It covers the basics very well, and that's actually all I need from a wearable device.

Of course, with a more limited screen, you can't call up full maps or messages, but you can always see what time it is, what your heart rate is, and how many steps you've done that day. Now that Google's in charge of Fitbit development as well, you know there's plenty to come in terms of app updates (and most probably AI too).

Looking for something else? Retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Home Depot have Prime Day competition sales that are especially useful if you don’t have Amazon Prime.
