Retails sales like Amazon Prime Day are rife with potential pitfalls for unwary consumers, whether it's "sale prices" that are just hype, or a lack of readily available price-tracking on the site, so I'm always looking out for bamboozles, and I caught an interesting one.
Check out this deal for Amazon Echo Frames Smart Glasses (but don't hit "buy.") They're $129, down from $299.99. If you were looking for a solid pair of audio smart glasses from 2023 that integrate with Alexa, it would seems like a really good deal, until you look at this listing: It's the same third-gen Amazon Echo Frames for the same $129 price, but you also get an Echo Spot for free, just for clicking on the right listing. This is, by the way, a great deal. Echo Spots cost $44.99 on Prime Day with an $79.99 list price. But it's a great deal someone could easily miss with an "impulse click" on the original listing, so make sure you look around a little before you purchase anything on Prime Day. On a semi-related note: Amazon really wants to unload Echo Frames, so it's a buyer's market for slightly outdated smart glasses. Another pitfall: missing the Prime Day prices. The sale ends in a few hours.
