Tim Walz Put Abortions Up to Birth Into Law in Minnesota, Now He’s Lying About it
The left has made it clear they are running on one thing — legalizing the killing of preborn babies.
In the recent vice-presidential debate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz doubled down on his aggressive abortion agenda –– denying facts, averting questions, and outright lying about the true meaning of the radical abortion legislation he signed into law as governor, turning Minnesota into one of the nation’s leading “abortion sanctuary” states.
While Senator JD Vance uncovered much of Walz’s pro-death agenda during the debate, here’s a recap of five of Walz’s most egregious lies and why voters need to know about them before casting their ballots this November:
LIE #1: Walz Denied He Signed a Law that Allowed Abortionists to Let Infants Born Alive After Botched Abortions Die from Negligence
During a heated exchange on abortion, Vance pointed out the “fundamentally barbaric” nature of the statute that Walz signed into law that “says that a doctor who presides over an abortion … is under no obligation to provide lifesaving care to a baby who survives a botched late term abortion.”
Walz denied it — claiming “that’s not the way the law is written.” But the fact remains that he signed a bill into law that repealed requirements for physicians to provide life-saving care to any infant who survives a botched abortion. To add insult to injury, prior to this repeal, aborted babies born alive in Minnesota were tragically denied care anyway. In 2021 alone, on Walz’s watch, five babies died after being born alive during an abortion; none were provided life-saving medical care.

Furthermore, the same bill that repealed protections for these babies also repealed reporting requirements. There is only one reason to repeal such a law and remove the related reporting requirements: They know how barbaric it is — and they want to hide it.
Or, in this case, lie about it.
LIE #2: Walz Denied Minnesota Law Allows Abortion in the Ninth Month
When asked about the bill he signed into law making “Minnesota one of the least restrictive states in the nation when it comes to abortion” and whether he supports abortion in the ninth month, he responded, “That’s not what the bill says.”
Like his running mate claiming Roe did not permit abortion in the ninth month (it did), Walz either has no qualms with outright fabrication, or he doesn’t understand the language of the bills he signs. The law in question does in fact permit abortion in the ninth month — and more. It codifies abortion as a fundamental right without limits or safeguards, permitting abortion up to birth for any reason.
LIE #3: Minnesota Restored “Roe v. Wade.”
Walz tried to euphemize the radical abortion laws he signed, saying Minnesota simply “restore[d] Roe v. Wade.” Let’s be clear:
Roe required states to offer abortion up to viability (determined to be 24 weeks — past the pain threshold) and permitted it up to birth. States were also left to legislate specific health and safety measures.
Walz went far beyond Roe’s requirements by signing into law three pro-abortion bills that together made Minnesota an “abortion sanctuary.” These bills collectively did the following:
- Made it legal for babies to be aborted beyond viability throughout all nine months of pregnancy for any reason.
- Ensured parents have no right to be informed if their underage daughter has an abortion.
- Made it so no doctor needs to be involved in abortions.
- Repealed protections to prevent coerced abortions and informed consent.
- Made it so individuals who have committed felonies by violating abortion laws in other states can be licensed to perform abortions in Minnesota.
Not to mention, he signed a law making it legal for abortionists to leave babies to die after botched abortions.
In summary: Walz did at a state level what a Harris/Walz administration would do at the federal level.
Lie #4: Walz Claims State Abortion Restrictions Prevent Proper Medical Care
Citing cases of women who suffered abortion-related complications, including the tragic case of Amber Thurman who died from complications of the deadly abortion pill, Walz insinuated that had their states permitted abortion up to birth, the women would have received proper care. This is a lie.
Using their stories as political rhetoric not only demeans these women, but also turns their “testimonies” into powerful pro-abortion propaganda. What happened in these situations is unacceptable, but the pro-life laws in question did not cause them. In fact, all states permit the lifesaving and essential care these women deserved and should have been given.
Rather than shifting blame, Walz and the pro-abortion machine should seek justice for Thurman by calling for a thorough investigation, and the abortion industry should be held accountable for its complicity in her death.
Lie #5: Walz claimed they would create a “Registry of Pregnancies”
In addition to falsely attributing Project 2025 to President Trump, Walz claimed it would lead to “a registry of pregnancies.” Set aside the fact that Trump has repeatedly said he has not read, nor does he endorse Project 2025 –– in no way does Project 2025 recommend such a registry.
Even the mainstream media fact-checked that claim as false.
Project 2025 does propose data collection on prenatal death, which includes abortion. Highlighting that reliable statistics on abortion are essential to public health analysis and policy (which is particularly relevant given the recent emergence of liberal “abortion sanctuary” states like Minnesota), Project 2025 calls for information on abortion survivors and at what stage in pregnancy abortion occurs, among other things.
Perhaps Walz continues to twist the truth on prenatal data collection because of the accountability that comes with it.
Radical Abortion Laws Don’t Win Voters
We shouldn’t be shocked Walz and Harris are seeking to moderate their stances on abortion, given that polling indicates a whopping 73% of Americans oppose abortion after 15 weeks. Walz and Harris want to allow abortion in seventh, eighth, and ninth months. And after.
Both deny it, but the reality is, Walz signed into law legislation legalizing abortion in the third trimester — when babies are fully formed, feel pain, and would survive outside the womb. He and Harris promote abortion up to birth for any reason, oppose protections for infants born alive from failed abortions, and will do anything to advance this cause.
As we know, the mainstream media is in lockstep with Walz’s radical stance on abortion and has downplayed the barbarism Walz enacted in Minnesota. Together with Kamala Harris, they will stop at nothing to take their pro-death agenda nationwide.
That is barbaric.
