PH logs lowest number of new Covid-19 cases in 2 months
THE Philippines logged 4,487 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Tuesday, the lowest figure in more than two months, the Department of Health (DoH) said.
The DoH attributed this, however, to the low number of tests conducted in the country.
The DoH said only 26,672 samples were tested on Sunday, in which 13 percent or 3,467 were found positive.
Eight laboratories did not send their data to the DoH, which is equivalent to 2.5 percent of all samples tested and 2.7 percent of total positive individuals based on the past 14-day data.
New recoveries continued to increase at 6,383, pushing the total recovery tally to 1.083 million, or 93.8 percent of 1.154 million total cases.
Of the 52,291 active cases, 96.5 percent are mild, asymptomatic and moderate.
The death toll is now at 19,372, with the addition of 110 new fatalities.
Occupancy rate in hospitals continues to decrease in Metro Manila, with intensive care unit, isolation and ward beds at 56 percent, 41 percent and 44 percent capacity.
