Brion named Philja head

Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Arturo Brion was appointed head of the Philippine Judicial Academy (Philja).

Brion will replace retired SC justice Adolfo Azcuna whose term will expire on May 31, 2021.

The Philja conducts educational learning to judges to keep them updated with the law.

Brion was associate justice for eight years — from March 17, 2008 to December 29, 2016. .

He topped the 1974 Bar with a grade of 91.65 percent. A graduate of the Ateneo College of Law, he also served as Labor secretary from 2006 to 2008 and Foreign Affairs undersecretary from 2002 to 2003.

Brion became the dean of the College of Law of San Sebastian College- Recoletos in 2017.
