Brittany Mahomes slams ‘haters’ in cryptic post amid Trump backlash
Brittany Mahomes is slamming “haters” in the wake of receiving criticism for reportedly liking a recent post from Donald Trump that espoused the dangerous tenets of his presidential campaign.
The 28-year-old Kansas City Current co-owner, and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, seemingly called out the response in a since-expired Instagram Story on Friday.
“I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood,” said the former pro-soccer player. “There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”
While Mahomes’ scathing message didn’t say who or what she was referring to exactly, many users linked it to her social media activity.
Earlier this week, Mahomes reportedly liked an Instagram post from the former president, outlining his 2024 GOP platform — including his vows to “carry out the largest deportation operation in American history,” “keep men OUT of women’s sports,” and “cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, radical gender ideology” or any other content Trump deems “inappropriate.”
Users on X were quick to call out Mahomes for seemingly supporting Trump’s discriminatory plans, with one writing a message directly to her husband.
“Patrick Mahomes, imagine marrying someone who doesn’t care about your rights and your kids’ rights,” they wrote. “Brittany Mahomes agreeing with Project 2025 but married to a Black man with mixed kids is insane.”
That sentiment was shared by many others, with another writing, “How do you vote for someone that you KNOW is racist, when you have biracial BLACK children? HOW?”
Others said they weren’t surprised to see her supporting racism and other hateful ideology, specifically pointing to a video in which she she incorrectly assumed her husband’s favorite food was fried chicken — a stereotype in the Black community.
“Brittany Mahomes being a MAGA … shouldn’t be surprising for those who were paying attention,” another person tweeted. “Anyone who watched the clip where out of nowhere she said his favorite dish should be fried chicken was revealing.”
While many assumed Mahomes’ Instagram Story was in response to the backlash, others have speculated it had nothing to do with Trump, but rather “hate she was getting from angry sports fans who were dragging her being named in a donation because it was all her husband’s money.”
On Thursday, it was announced that she and Patrick had pledged $5 million to the football center at his alma mater, Texas Tech.
Brittany Mahomes has not clarified the meaning behind her message.
