Moment tourist punches ‘particularly vicious’ monkey
A tourist and a macaque got into a brawl at a national park after the monkey tried to steal a bag.
The cheeky animal thought it had food inside and tried to snatch it from under the tourist’s nose, but ended up in an altercation.
The man stood on his bag to prevent the monkey from running away with it but appeared to kick the animal with his spare foot.
The monkey scaled a nearby fence and began snarling and baring its fangs, as the man put up both fists.
Just before the monkey struck, the tourist threw a left hook and knocked it off the fence.
Eventually, the monkey retreated but later reappeared in another attempt to steal someone’s bag.
Local media said the man successfully safeguarded his belongings from the aggressive animal.
The bizarre scrap was filmed at the Huangshizhai viewpoint in the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park located in Hunan Province, China.
One local said: ‘That was a legitimate defence against an aggressive monkey.’
Another added: ‘The monkeys in Zhangjiajie are particularly vicious’.
The park has since reminded visitors of the dangers of wild macaques and asked tourists not to feed them.
