Looters ‘dressed as firefighters’ heap more horror in LA wildfires as death toll rises
The death toll from ferocious wildfires sweeping Los Angeles has risen to 16.
Firefighters said that over 100 square miles of homes and vegetation had been consumed in the flames, which have burned down more than 12,000 buildings.
Amid hopeful updates of people taking in their neighbours and some homes left unscathed, there were also grimmer stories of human response.
An overnight curfew has been imposed in fire areas to deter looting from homes affected by the fires.
Officials imposed a curfew overnight after arresting several people looting in the burned areas.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson sais two looters were even ‘posing as firefighters coming in and out of houses’, Sky News reported.
