Police in the US are on the hunt for a man who hid a £17,000 sculpture in his shorts in a brazen art gallery heist.

The theft at Duncan McClellan Gallery, in St Petersburg, Florida was caught on a security camera.

St Petersburg Police is now sharing the footage in the hope someone might recognise the man, reports 7 News Miami.

The force said he and an accomplice – who can also be seen in the video – walked into the gallery on November 11 last year.

The accomplice distracted a member of staff while the man picked up a piece called Torso XI by Latchezar Boyadjiev – worth $21,000 (£17,200) – and tucked it into his shorts.
