M20 closed for hours ahead of rush hour after serious crash
A major motorway has closed in Kent after a serious crash.
The M20 has been closed for hours following a collision on the motorway.
The carriageway is shut eastbound between junctions J8 (Hollingbourne) and J10 (Maidstone) for a ‘police-led incident,’ National Highways said.
Drivers were told to ‘expect delays,’ it said.
A detour has been put in place for drivers caught out by the closure.
Motorists should follow the hollow circle along the A20 and A292 through Lenham and Ashford.
A stretch of the motorway was briefly closed in both directions, but the westbound carriageway has since reopened.
Kent Police told Metro: ‘Kent Police is currently at the scene of a serious collision near Junction 9 of the M20 at Ashford.
‘The motorway is closed coastbound while the incident is responded to and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.’
We approached the ambulance service for a comment.
