Chocolate and candies recalled for potential to ’cause death’
Several chocolate products have been recalled over concerns they could ’cause serious adverse health consequences or death’.
Cal Yee Farm’s Dark Chocolate Almonds, Dark Chocolate Apricots and Dark Chocolate Walnuts have been upgraded to the highest risk level by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for having undeclared ingredients including milk.
For people with allergies, the undeclared ingredients can cause swollen vocal cords, hives, unconsciousness, dizziness, cramps and even death, stated the FDA in an update last Wednesday.
Suisun Valley, California-based Call Yee Farm on December 12 issued a recall of various of its chocolate, dried fruit and nut products over undeclared potential allergens including milk, almond, soy, wheat and sesame.
No sickness due to consuming the products was reported at the time.
The affected products were sold in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Customers with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the company.
