Manhunt for ex-QPR and Cardiff football player who’s wanted back in prison
Police are looking for ex QPR and Cardiff City football player Leonne Jeanne who is being recalled to prison.
The 44-year-old, from Cardiff, was convicted of dangerous driving in 2019 after being chased by police at 100mph.
He was later jailed for breaching a curfew.
In 2015 he was jailed for 30 months for his part in a plot to supply cocaine.
His son, Rafel Jeanne and two of Rafel’s friends, both aged 21, died in a car crash in March 2023, while another two were injured.
Jeanne was in prison at the time, but allowed out on day release to attend Rafel’s funeral.
The footballer started his career at Queens Park Rangers, later joining his hometown team of Cardiff City.
But he struggled with alcohol and drug problems, reports The Sun, and was given a two-year ban by the Football Association of Wales after testing positive for a class A drug.
More disciplinary issues led to his eventual release from Cardiff and after stints playing at other clubs between 2011 and 2015, his career came to an end.
He was once described as ‘Wales’ most promising player’.
The MailOnline reports that former teammate Jay Bothroyd said last year: ‘He was at Arsenal with me and was the most talented player I’d ever seen at that age. He was unbelievable. But he went off the rails’.
South Wales Police posted an appeal on Facebook saying: ‘#Wanted. Leon Jeanne. Age: 44. From Cardiff. Recalled to Prison. Give reference2500002271.’
