Urgent search for British dad missing in Bangkok after failing to board flight home
A British man who went on holiday to Thailand to see his friend has been reported missing after failing to board his flight home.
James Sangwine, 33, from Epping, Essex, travelled to Bangkok on January 18 but his partner Katie, 38, has not heard from him since January 20, after he headed to a bar to meet friends.
The dad-of-one was last seen at Abandoned Mansion Bar & Restaurant in the Thai capital, according to a couple who texted Katie.
On January 21, he didn’t call his seven-year-old son to wish him ‘happy birthday’ or board his flight home on January 24.
Katie says his phone has been switched off and he has not tried to contact anybody.
She has reported James as a missing person to Thai Police but has not received an update yet.
Katie said: ‘On Monday 20th, he sent me a little photo from where he was staying, and told me he was meeting some friends at a bar.
‘He told me about it, saying it was a nice little place – and that was the last time we spoke.
‘While he was at the bar, early in the evening his time, he tried to call me.
‘But I was asleep – it was 11pm for me.
‘He hasn’t rung since – it’s not going through, like it’s off.
‘We haven’t been told anything.
‘Even if James has passed away – we still need to know, so we can have his body back and give him a funeral.
‘Someone must know where he is, or what has happened to him.’
The British Embassy in Bangkok has been approached for comment.
