Body found after river search for missing twin sisters in Scotland was called off

A body has been found in the search for missing twins last seen earlier this month.

Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, 32, have been missing in Aberdeen since the early hours of Tuesday, January 7.

The discovery of a body was made in the river, near Queen Elizabeth Bridge, at 7.55am today.

It comes just days after a river search for the sisters was called off.

A search was launched earlier this month after they were last seen near the River Dee.

CCTV captured them walking down Market Street to the Victoria Bridge spanning the river near the harbour around 2.12 am.

They then turned right down a footpath toward Aberdeen Boat Club and haven’t been seen since – until today, when a body was found in the area near where they went missing.

Police Scotland said: ‘The body has been recovered from the water and inquiries are ongoing.’

Their triplet brother, Jozsef, previously said their mother spoke to Eliza and Henrietta before their disappearance and that nothing seemed out of the ordinary with them.

In a statement, Jozsef said: ‘We kindly ask everyone for respect at this time. Please do not spread any fake news.

‘We can only say what’s already been in the news. The Scottish authorities are doing their job. The family is not in a position to give everyone separate information.’
