Pub’s ‘free pint for every goal’ offer backfires after Forest’s 7-0 win

A Nottinghamshire pub has delivered on its promise to offer a free pint for every Forest goal in Saturday’s football match against Brighton.

Fans packed public houses for the Premier League game, which ended with a resounding 7-0 victory over Brighton.

Before the first whistle was blown, The Gedling Inn announced it will give a free pint to customers for every Forest score.

‘FREE PINT WHEN FOREST SCORE,’ a post on their Facebook page read an hour before the game began.

Either owners were feeling particularly generous – or they did not actually believe that their team stood a chance.

Staff promised the giveaway as a lighthearted promotion, but by the end of the match, they were scrambling to keep up with the demand.

Pictures shared by Forest fans on Facebook and X showed pints stacking at tables as they claimed their reward.

Most were struggling to finish seven drinks in a little less than two hours, but gave it their best shot.

‘Can’t fault them…. Kept their word and kept the free beer coming,’ Felix Hogg praised The Gedling Inn on social media.

Molly Chesney commented: ‘I don’t think anyone expected seven goals – but I hope The Gedling Inn gets a lot of new followers and fans. Whether they’ll do it again, I’m not sure.’

Fans joked that the owners must had been dreading every Forest goal, but they said it was a ‘mixture of elation and dread’.

They stressed they had ‘no regrets’ and were taking ‘the rough with the smooth’.

Forest were themselves thrashed by Bournemouth last weekend, so not many expected such a success.
