When will it start to get warm in 2025?

Cold temperatures have persisted in 2025 across the UK, with snow, sleet rain and general misery.

The dreary weather has many Brits asking when conditions will finally warm up. Good news – stable conditions could be seen soon in the UK – but winter isn’t over yet.

Most of February is likely to remain ‘chilly and changeable’, with the BBC saying temperatures have been and will likely continue to be around average.

Stephen Dixon, Met Office Spokesman, told Metro: ‘Colder than average weather is likely through much of this week for the UK with cold easterly winds continuing to bring cool conditions for many.

‘There’s a chance of some sleet and snow over high ground in places, though this isn’t particularly unusual for the time of year. Overnight temperatures through the week would dip as low as -6C in rural parts of Scotland, with daytime highs likely to be in the mid-single figures.

‘While cold conditions are likely to persist through much of this week, there’s a chance of a transition to something more ‘average’ later in February, though it’s too early to be definitive on this.’

But wet, wintry weather might not be over yet. The Met Office said later this week that this week’s upcoming weather could be ‘accompanied by some light rain and hill snow early next week, mainly in the south of the UK, before drier conditions become established later in the week.’

The Met Office also cited an ‘unsettled theme’ which will likely see weather systems moving close to or across the UK from the Atlantic in the coming months.

‘This will mean bands of rain and perhaps periods of strong winds spreading in from the west, interspersed with some drier and brighter interludes,’ they said.

‘Temperatures are most likely to be close to average overall. Whilst this is the most likely outcome, there is still a chance of colder conditions continuing for a time at the start of this period.’

The next month or so appears to have unsettled weather systems moving across the UK, but temperatures could soon increase, giving a slight reprieve to the bitter cold the UK has experienced this winter.

On February 21, temperatures in London could reach 10°C – one of the highest temperatures in recent months.

But it seems Brits will have to wait until spring is truly in swing to get a break from this year’s cold temperatures.
