Toddler killed in three-way crash by busy roundabout

A toddler has died after a three-way car crash at a busy roundabout in Lincolnshire.

The 20-month old boy was seriously injured in the smash on the A17, close to the Holdingham roundabout at Sleaford, at around 4.45pm on Wednesday.

He was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition and died at 1.19am on Friday.

Before the boy died, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has been released on police bail while the investigation into the cause of the collision continues, said Lincolnshire Police.

The force said the crash involved a white Audi, a silver Kia Ceed and a black Volkswagen.

Other people in the vehicles sustained minor injuries.

Police are appealing for information that could help them with their investigation.

A spokesperson said: ‘Were you travelling along the A17 between Sleaford and Newark between 4.15pm and 4.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 19 March)?

‘Did you see a dark coloured VW Passat travelling eastbound on the A17 from the Newark area, heading in the direction of Sleaford?

‘Do you have dashcam which might have captured the collision itself of the vehicles involved prior to the collision?’
