Ahead of Valentine’s Day, Customs and Border Protection specialists at Miami-Dade International Airport have painstakingly inspected about 940 million flower stems. Thousands of tons of roses, chrysanthemums and carnations are imported, mostly from Colombia and Ecuador, before making their way to florist and supermarket shelves across the U.S.
