Halal Mexican eatery opens in Albany
Albany’s first Halal Mexican restaurant has opened at 324 Central Avenue. Taki Taki Mexican Grill had it’s soft opening at the end of June and its official opening on July 4.
Health food eatery in Saratoga Springs up for sale
After six years, Allen Caruso and Brandon Acres have decided to sell their business Thorn + Roots. The health food eatery has two locations in Saratoga Springs and Burlington, Vermont, as well as a food truck.

Parillo’s Armory Grill has been a staple on Bridge Street in Amsterdam for over 50 years. Now, the Italian restaurant is permanently closed.

Two restaurants on Upper Union Street in Schenectady are set to celebrate their grand openings. Chapli & Platters is celebrating its grand opening on Friday, July 26 at 2 p.m., and Mr. & Mrs. Wing is having its grand opening on Tuesday, July 30 at 1 p.m.
Distillery sets grand opening for tasting room in Amsterdam
Second Act Spirits, a New York farm distillery, has set the grand opening for its tasting room in the Clocktower building at 37 Prospect Street in Amsterdam. The grand opening will be held on Friday, July 26 at 3 p.m.
RARE 297 Steakhouse opens in Pittsfield
A new steakhouse has opened in Pittsfield. RARE 297 Steakhouse had its grand opening on July 23 in the former Berkshire Palate space at 297 North Street.
Wingstop sets opening date for new Capital Region location
Wingstop, a national chicken wing chain, is soon opening its second location in the Capital Region. The new location, which has a Troy address but is located within the town of Brunswick, is projected to open on Monday, July 29.
Amsterdam deli closes, new eatery taking over space
DomAdi’s Deli, located at 1451 Route 5S in Amsterdam, has closed after seven years. An employee at the deli told NEWS10 the eatery closed on Saturday, July 20.
Caroline Street’s Saratoga City Tavern up for sale
Saratoga City Tavern, a five-story bar at 19-21 Caroline Street in Saratoga Springs, has been listed for sale. The tavern was bought by brothers Pat, Jay, and Adam Fitch in 2002.
Queensbury barbecue joint permanently closes
Streaking Moose BBQ, located at 990 Route 149 in Queensbury, has permanently closed. The restaurant made the announcement in a Facebook post on July 23.
What’s proposed along Caroline Street in Saratoga Springs
Lined with bars and restaurants, Caroline Street in downtown Saratoga Springs is seen as the central location for nightlife in the city. With new projects proposed and more businesses opening or for sale along the street, Caroline Street may be going through some changes.
