Shaker clinches Suburban Council with win over Columbia
EAST GREENBUSH, NY (NEWS10) -- The Shaker and Columbia girls basketball teams entered Tuesday night atop the Suburban Council, 9-1 each in league play. The two teams met Tuesday night, and the winner would clinch the Suburban Council title.
Columbia started out strong, but Shaker fended off the run to take a 12-10 lead after the first quarter. The Blue Bison led 27-24 at the half.
Shaker grew their lead to nine in the third quarter, leading 51-42 heading into the fourth. They held on to knock off Columbia 63-55, winning the Suburban Council title for the first time since 2016.
Sofia Lanni led the Blue Bison with 16 points. Kendyl Ouimette led Columbia with 20 points.
