New York State Police unveil new patrol car design
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police announced an upcoming change in the design of their patrol vehicle fleet. Starting in 2025, new troop cars will feature a gray body with gold striping, a transition from the current configuration of dark blue and yellow.
The new look pays homage to previous renditions of state patrol cars, particularly a gray motif utilized in the early 1950s. State Police said the change honors the history and tradition of the organization while maintaining a strong, professional design that is easily visible and recognizable to the public.
As of February, there's only one vehicle in the fleet with the modernized aesthetic. New patrol cars will be painted with the updated pattern as they are purchased, and there are no plans to overhaul any cars with the current blue design.
