Port of Coeymans preps Portal North Bridge for journey
COEYMANS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Port of Coeymans loaded out the final section of a massive commuter rail bridge on Wednesday.
The Portal North Bridge was built at the Port of Coeymans to replace the century-old Portal Bridge, which is used by nearly 200,000 Amtrak and New Jersey Transit passengers traveling by rail between Newark, New Jersey and New York's Penn Station every day.
The third and final section will leave the port on Friday. The section is 400 feet long, 78 feet wide, and 86 feet high.
