Niskayuna restaurant permanently closing its doors
Tequila’s Mexican Bar and Grill, located at 2305 Nott Street E in Niskayuna, is closing its doors. The owners made the announcement on the restaurant’s website.
Jericho Drive-in and Twist Ice Cream opens for 2025 season
Twist Ice Cream is open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. every day, and they just completed changing over to the regular menu. But with Valentine’s Day this week, they have created the Sweetheart Sundae, which is Red Velvet soft serve topped with hot fudge, cream, cheese, frosting, brownie bites, whip, whipped cream, valentine sprinkles, and a cherry.
New restaurant opening on Phila St. in Saratoga Springs
The owner of the Milton Tavern on Geyser Road in Milton is opening up a new restaurant in downtown Saratoga Springs. Fillies on Phila will be located in the former Nashville of Saratoga space at 39 Phila Street.
Participating lineup for Schenectady Co. Restaurant Week
Schenectady County’s Restaurant Week will run from February 24 to March 2. This week will consist of multi-course lunches and dinners off of fixed-price menus at participating restaurants in the county.
Slidin’ Dirty taking over kitchen at Nanola in Malta
Slidin’ Dirty is set to take over kitchen operations at another Capital Region restaurant. The slider eatery is set to open at Nanola in Malta on Wednesday, February 12.
Where to get a fish fry in the Capital Region
Lent, largely observed by Christians, starts on Ash Wednesday and ends just before Easter. This year, Ash Wednesday falls on March 5. Observers are usually not supposed to eat meat on Fridays during Lent. However, fish is OK.
Upcoming restaurant weeks in the Capital Region
Many counties, cities, and regions have restaurant weeks throughout the year to help promote local eateries. Participating restaurants usually serve prix-fixe special menus for the week.
2025 Saratoga Chowderfest winners announced
The 26th annual Saratoga Chowderfest was held on Saturday. The streets of downtown Saratoga Springs were filled with people testing out over 80 types of chowder from various restaurants, cafes, and businesses from all around the region.
