State prepared for upcoming winter storm
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Whether it's snow, freezing rain, or both, New York State will be out in full force to ensure roads are clear and safe over the weekend. New York State Dir. of Emergency Management Matt Franklin said his office has been in contact with the Department of Transportation and other agencies to ensure they have the resources to get through this weekend's upcoming storm.
He said the public can play a big role.
"The state is well prepared, well positioned, well resourced," he said. "And folks are ready to do this. I think across the board, if everyone could take a tactical pause, prepare themselves tonight, get ready and stay off the roads for the next few days."
And when the storm is over, make sure you don't exert yourself while shoveling, take breaks, stay hydrated and wear warm clothing.
