NYS leaders take walking tour of downtown Albany, meet with local businesses
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State leaders got their steps in on Friday as they come up with ways to revitalize downtown Albany. It comes after Gov. Kathy Hochul's proposed $400 million investment in the city.
Representatives from the state participated in the walking tour of downtown. They stopped at local businesses and gathered feedback on what community members hope to see come out of the funding.
New York State Commissioner of General Services Jeannette Moy said she considers this a once in a generation opportunity.
"There's going to be a pretty long and extensive engagement process to help us better understand how to make sure that investment is well used," she said. "And our agency, and everyone who plays a part in making sure Albany is a vibrant destination, a place for our employees, a place for visitors, a place for our residents. We're all going to be a part of that conversation."
The budget is due by April 1. State lawmakers have not released their versions of the annual plan, yet.
