Indian House Farm kicks off final weekend of Field of Screams corn maze
PRINCETOWN, N.Y. (News10) -- The Field of Screams in Princetown kicked off their final weekend of the season tonight. We first were introduced to Indian House Farm earlier this week, when they told us the importance of supporting local farms. Their farm has been in their family for six generations, and the corn maze is just one way that they keep the business going.
“We're trying to keep it alive and keep it a family farm,” said sixth generation family member Preston Whiteley.
Close family friends echoed similar statements.
“Your locals are really trying, so, you know, give back to them you know, go out and help your neighbors," said Ben Smith.
The maze is undoubtedly creative, with horrifying scares at every turn. We spoke with local residents who went last year.
"He left me in the dark at the end of the tunnel, and then there was a chainsaw," explained one couple of maze attendees. "He was just laughing when he came out. It was so funny."
Yet it was the youngest thrill seekers who brought the bravest faces.
“It’s not too too scary but, it still packs a punch,” said a group of local kids.
Organizers told me that one of their tricks is finding out the names of the maze goers before they even enter.
“I was thinking, how do they know me," said one young attendee.
At the heart of the operation, is family and friends, connected by generations of friendship.
“It's afterwards, we always sit around a fire and talk about the scares that we got,” said Smith.
The last night of the season for the Field of Screams corn maze is tomorrow. The maze starts at 7:30 PM and is located at 2627 Giffords Church Rd in Princetown.
